PPL donates an astonishing £8,000 to London Heart Starters The Charity Team graciously welcomed Claire Kennedy, Joint Chief Executive of PPL for a cheque presentation at our London Waterloo Headquarters. PPL are a management consultancy and social enterprise that work in partnership with their clients and communities to power positive, lasting change. As part of their work as a social enterprise, PPL kindly donated a whopping £8,000 towards our London Heart Starters campaign to fund 5 life-saving defibrillators! This grand gesture supports our ongoing crucial mission to place life-saving defibrillators in the heart of every community, especially those that are in most need. Claire Kennedy said of the gift: “The PPL team is proud to be partnering with the London Ambulance Charity and supporting the London Heart Starters Campaign through our social impact fund. “We think the campaign is a brilliant way of helping the Ambulance Service to save lives by increasing the number of defibrillators available to London’s residents. We are thrilled to help the campaign by funding five defibrillators to be placed in ‘defibrillator deserts’, and training in how to use them. We see this as a great example of partnership in action where, as a social enterprise, we can work together with the LAS Charity to deliver positive, life-saving impact to our community’ In the case of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, bystander intervention including giving CPR and using a defibrillator can drastically boost survival rates. Research shows that defibrillation within 3 - 5 minutes of collapse from a cardiac arrest can create survival rates of up to 50 - 70%; however, there are still 150 neighbourhoods across London in great need of life-saving defibrillators. This makes donations to the London Heart Starters campaign like that of the compassionate team at PPL crucial in bridging the gap to save more lives.
